Overview

About the Programme:

Masters of Public Health (MPH) program is in demand and is recognized as the benchmark academic credential. There is significant demand for public health professionals in India and abroad in the various field like epidemiology, biostatistics, surveillance, environmental health management, and program planning and evaluation. Creation of a dedicated Public Health Cadre has been identified as one of the important pre-requisites in this direction. Greater emphasis on health promotion and disease prevention as a means to reduce the costs of care by improving the health of our populations has created a broad array of new opportunities for professionals with advanced training in public health. This course will prepare competent cadre of professionals who have a basic understanding of the various aspects of public health and are able to successfully apply this knowledge towards dealing with public health challenges more particularly in Indian context. This course will utilize a basket of teaching/learning techniques such as simulation exercises, Lecture discussion, group discussion, tutorial, demonstration, case studies, role play, collaborative learning, assignments, visits to organizations of public health interest, field work, practical and field projects etc.

Eligibility

Candidates with graduate qualifications in Medicine, AYUSH, Dentistry, Nursing, Pharmacy, Veterinary Sciences, Physiotherapy, Occupational therapy, Allied and Health Sciences are eligible to apply. Candidates with graduation in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Statistics, Biostatistics, Management, Engineering, Demography, Population Studies, Nutrition, Sociology, Psychology, Anthropology, Social Work, Economics, Law, or any equivalent qualifications are also eligible to apply. The candidates are required to pass their graduation with at least 60% marks. The candidates are required to have minimum computer skills to pursue the course.

Programme Objectives
  1. To create an interdisciplinary, interprofessional environment with students and faculty members of diverse backgrounds, interests, and expertise.
  2. To create an environment in which students are supported as they attain the knowledge, competencies, and values of public health.
  3. To foster the identification and realization of individual student's unique personal and professional goals.
  4. To offer a variety of public health opportunities to students through applied and integrated learning that will prepare them for roles in the public health workforce.
  5. To work continually to improve the health of populations by providing service and consultation to public health agencies and organizations at the local, state, national and international level.
  6. To provide an academic environment in which faculty and students advance the fields of public health research and practice.
  7. To establish and maintain thorough systematic program evaluation and development. To engage students in developing an understanding of public health professionalism.
